MEXICO & THE WORLD SUBMISSION POLICY

BY MANAGING EDITORS

OLGA M. LAZIN (UCLA) AND ARTURO GRUNSTEIN (CIDE) July 1997

Mexico & The World, a scholarly, peer-reviewed journal, published at least four times yearly focuses on recent research on Mexico in the global context. The editors of the journal are particularly interested in the analysis of Mexican policy issues in the era of privatization, North-American free trade, shifts in global production, and the emergence of new world trading blocs.

The journal focuses on Mexico's changing global role. Mexico is regarded by many countries in the world, especially those in Eastern Europe, as a model for opening traditionally closed economies to the world market. In addition, many observers see Mexico as the linchpin for free trade in the western hemisphere. With regard to Asia, countries such as China, Thailand, and Korea increasingly see Mexico as a contender in the spheres of economic activity they currently dominate.

The journal features articles that address the most pressing issues in Mexican economic and social policy. While the editors seek analyses that contribute to the understanding of the global economic and social challenges in the twenty-first century, articles need not be explicitly comparative in nature. Studies of Mexican development over the course of the twentieth century with a view to the challenges of the twenty-first century will be considered for publication.

Submissions from all of the social sciences -- including economics, political science, law, history, anthropology, sociology, psychology, education, management, public policy, and geography -- are welcome. We encourage review articles that examine the state of the literature on important topics.

Because copyright for articles published in the journal is retained by each author (thus, facilitating publication in other media), we have no single requirement for style of documentation. We do require that each article be internally consistent in format.

All correspondence and editorial activities are carried out electronically.

Mexico & The World is edited by James W. Wilkie (UCLA) and Sergio de la Peña (UNAM). An international editorial board reviews all submissions.
